Just a friendly reminder that Picture Day is tomorrow!

Good Evening Panthers! This is Dr. Hill with your weekly announcements!
1. Our candyman fundraiser is in full swing here at HAES! We appreciate all of the support our parents and community provide during our first Fall Fundraiser. All of the proceeds go back to the school and help with our monthly PBIS celebrations and Guardian Gala in the Spring. The student that sells the most will get to "pie the principal" and win $100! Please help support our school.
2. Please remember this Tuesday, October 1. We will have our fall
pictures on campus. Information regarding pictures went home with your child last week. If you need additional information, please reach out to your child's teacher via the reminder app.
3. Book Blast starts on on October 3. Please be on the lookout for our post on Facebook.
4. Please remember to not block the road to the right of the school. Please use the this road to turn around in the back of the school to avoid cars having to stop on the curve. This is extremely important and creates a very dangerous situation for parents during pick up and drop off.
5. The deadline for pre-K physicals is October the second. If you have any questions, please reach out to Miss Jacqueline Floyd here at HAES.
6. Lastly, we are all watching a very tragic situation unfold in the western part of the state. Many of us know individuals that are deeply affected by the events that occurred following hurricane Helene. We will be collecting donated items in our front office to be dispersed to the victims and families within the mountains. If you would like to donate items, please bring them by our office and a box will be located there for you to place them. This is in conjunction with other efforts that are going on at East Columbus Junior Senior high school. Thank you so much in advance.
We hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

A book drive unlike any other is happening at HAES!

Due to the potential for hazardous weather, Columbus County Schools will conduct Remote Instruction on Friday, September 27th, 2024. This applies to both students and staff. Schools will provide details regarding assignments.
Extracurricular activities will continue as planned on Thursday. All extracurricular activities for Friday are canceled.

Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School is about to embark on a school-wide book drive unlike any other! Starting on Thursday, October 3, 2024, the school will launch their Books Are Fun Book Blast. This literacy initiative helps our students build their home libraries while also helping the school to get more books and school supplies. No matter what, this program ensures all the students at the school will take home at least one new, fun, age-appropriate book for their home libraries. However, with the help of the community, friends, and family, students can earn up to 10 books! How does this all work? Students send out invitations to friends and family members to help them reach their goal of taking home all 10 books on their grade-level list. So, if you receive an invitation from a student you know, please click on the link in the invitation and help that child by contributing on their personal contribution page. 100% of the contributions they receive first go towards the books on their book list and then help other students needing books too. Any remaining contributions after every student earns all 10 books will go toward more books for the school and classroom supplies. Let’s help Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School reach their goal of every student taking home all 10 books! If you don’t know a student at the school or receive an invitation to contribute, but you’d still like to help all students at Hallsboro-Artesia Elementary School take home more books, you can contribute at: https://tinyurl.com/Hallsboro-ArtesiaESCommLink

Columbus County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on Wednesday, September 18th, with the following exceptions:
Acme Delco Elementary
East Columbus Jr. Sr. High
CCCA students who ride east-end buses
These schools and affected CCCA students will have a 2-hour delay. Staff at these locations will also be in a 2-hour delay.
If you believe travel conditions in your area are unsafe, please contact your principal in the morning. Our main concern is safety.

Due to ongoing flooding and the potential for hazardous travel conditions, Columbus County Schools will conduct Remote Instruction on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024. This applies to both students and staff. Schools will provide additional details regarding assignments and remote learning procedures. Students will be allowed to make up work missed during Remote Instruction. All extracurricular activities are canceled.
We understand that closing schools for in-person instruction is disruptive and that students benefit most from being in the classroom. However, the safety of our students, parents, and staff is our highest priority. Based on current reports and observed conditions, traveling to and from our campuses could be dangerous tomorrow, particularly in the areas hardest hit by the flooding.
We aim to resume in-person instruction on Wednesday, September 18th, provided conditions improve. We will keep you informed of any updates to this plan.
